Taco Seasoning

Creating your own taco seasoning at home is a simple, rewarding and budget friendly process that allows you to customize the flavor to your liking while avoiding preservatives and additives found in many store-bought versions. The foundation of a good taco seasoning typically includes a blend of spices that provide a balance of heat and depth.

Common ingredients include chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. You can adjust the proportions of each spice to suit your taste preferences, adding more heat with cayenne pepper.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 Tsp cumin
  • 1 Tsp garlic powder (adjust to taste)
  • 2 Tsp onion powder
  • ½ Tsp salt and pepper
  • ½ Tsp cayenne pepper (this is optional if you like your food a little more heat)

Directions:

  1. Combine the ingredients for the seasoning into a small bowl.
  2. Pour the seasoning into the skillet and mix with the ground beef, chicken or whatever meat you are using.

This seasoning blend can also be used to enhance other dishes like roasted vegetables, soups, and even scrambled eggs, making it a handy staple in your kitchen. This recipe can easily be tripled so you can make a big batch and always have some one hand.
